It is later revealed in “Saved by the Bell: The College Years” that Martin’s last name was actually “Sanchez,” causing an embarrassed AC Slater to realize his father concealed his Latino heritage (presumably simple due to his decidedly non-Latino appearance) to avoid rampant bigotry as he entered the military.
